Indians of North America: Comanche
At the peak of their power and fame, the Comanche were widely known as the "Lords of the Southern Plains." They domesticated horses and became skilled in capturing, training and breeding the animals. This tribe was also very strong militarily, and Comanche territory soon covered parts of what are now Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas and Oklahoma. Modern members of the Comanche tribe now continue efforts to retain their culture. Pow-wows have encouraged interest in native dance, language, song, crafts and history
