The Certified Fiber Optics Technician (CFOT) Level I training course is designed to teach basic fiber optic networking. IUP offers the only Fiber Optic Association (FOA) approved program in Pennsylvania and students routinely pass the exam to become Certified Fiber Optics Technician. CFOTs have a broad knowledge in fiber optics that can be applied to almost any job - design, installation, operation - for almost any application - outside plant, premises, manufacturing, etc.
The most recent training was facilitated by Dr. Andrew Zhou, Madia Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics, and Engineering in October 2023. After completing the training and passing the certification exam, Jason and Christy wrote, “We started training last week and we got our own bucket truck [that] we pick up next week. We'll never forget what you taught us and we sure will keep in touch.”
